Spring has sprung in Sandpoint |
|
Every spring, the Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club hosts its K&K Fishing Derby on Lake Pend Oreille. This year's event is April 24 through May 2. There are prizes for both adults and youth, so don't miss out on the action! LPOIC.org.
Also heading our way is the Lost in the '50s celebration May 13-16. This is the perfect weekend to check out Sandpoint's fun-loving nature as folks polish up the ol' cruiser and crank up the nostalgic tunes. Celebrating its 25th year, committed organizers and volunteers always put on a terrific weekend of fun. Events include the popular downtown parade and street dance, followed by the car show. This year's show includes Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone plus The Contours. Don't miss out! Lostin50s.com.

An easier way to stay (and play!)
|
If you're heading to town for the Lost in the '50s celebration, or planning your Sandpoint summer vacation, there's a great new Hotel Search tool on the home page of Visit Sandpoint to help with the issue of where to stay. Choose from many options, including a traditional hotel, a bed and breakfast, even RV camping sites. Check it out - and enjoy your stay!
And also on the Visit Sandpoint home page, you'll find that no reservations are necessary to take a "flight" over our fair town. It's as simple as a few clicks of the mouse - look for the logo of the new navigational tool SiteSeer3D featured on the page - and you're ready to take a high-flying tour. Try it out - and tell us what you think!

It's hip to be cool |
|
We already knew our town was way cool, and now the rest of the U.S. is discovering that fact, as well. Budget Travel Magazine has named Sandpoint one of its "Coolest Small Towns." And visitors to their website can vote for their favorite town (there's 21 top picks in all) until May 9 to pick the coolest of them all. Stop in and vote, and help spread the word about Sandpoint!.
And speaking of the media spotlight, nearby Spokane, Washington, ABC affiliate KXLY pointed their cameras toward Sandpoint recently during the latest episode of their popular Explorer Television travel show. Sandpoint's Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Amy Little was a terrific tour guide, and gave an enthusiastic "thumbs-up" to all that this charming little town has to offer. Take a peek.
